How To Make Cute Faces On Bento & Onigiri

If you've seen photos of those adorable Japanese bento lunches you've probably wondered how they make those cute faces on the food. It's easier than you may think with the help of a few simple tools! So easy in fact, that you may decide to give these mom-made meals a try and surprise your kids when they open their lunchbox.

The secret to making kawaii faces on onigiri and character bento is using nori punches and cutters. Much like a paper punch cuts a shape out of paper, these special cutters cut expressions out of sheets of dried seaweed. The faces can then be glued onto the food with with a bit of mayonnaise.
